Carol Carpenter Training help Wiltshire Constabulary improve performance and achieve national acclaim

Wiltshire Constabulary needed to adopt a National Performance
Development Review process in line with guidance from Home Office. Similar to other forces they recognised that historically appraisal and review had not worked effectively despite many changes to the system. The concern was that here was another process being rolled out, with little buy-in again.

Wiltshire Constabulary asked Carol Carpenter Training to put together a series of workshops for all managers (both police staff and police officers) to gain commitment to the concept of appraisal, recognise the difference it could make to the way the force operated, and to address the deeper leadership issues behind performance management. Such was the reaction and buy-in that the Carol Carpenter Training was asked to roll-out an adapted workshop for all employees across the force.

The project lasted 2 years and the results achieved included a review of leadership in the organisation, a renewed commitment to on-going feedback, improved performance at all levels, achievement of Investors in People standard and recognition nationally about the approach the Wiltshire team had adopted.
